We have created this directory to make it easier for low income communities to access mental health services in the Austin area. By providing information on the type of services offered by various low cost/free mental health service providers, their eligibility criteria as well as their contact information, we are moving under-served communities one step closer to obtaining the services that they need.

Please note that the directory does not indicate an endorsement of any service provider. Additionally, the service providers may sometimes make changes to their services without our knowledge.     services rendered:Individual, group, family and relationship counseling
    eligibility requirements:Open to the general public. Fees are determined by household income and size. They range from $15- $60 per session.
  • CHIP
    services rendered:Therapy and Psychiatry services
    eligibility requirements:Serves families that earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid but can't afford private insurance; must be under 19 years of age or be a primary caregiver with a child under the age of 19, are not covered by health insurance, be a US Citizen, national or permanent Resident, be a Texas Resident and make $1616 monthly for a 1 adult (plus children) household & $2186 monthly for a two adult one.

    eligibility requirements:Services are free for any Central Texas child, teen, or adult grieving the death of a loved one
  • CommUnity Care Health Centers

    eligibility requirements:Accepts most commercial and marketplace insurances, Medicaid, Medicare MAP & CHI. Financial assistance is available on a sliding scale based on income.

    eligibility requirements:Serves anyone that is experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Integral Care

    services rendered:Psychiatry, Suicide Prevention, Substance Abuse & Recovery, Therapy for individuals, kids & their families, Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities and Mental health evaluations
    eligibility requirements:Serves people affected by behavioral health and developmental and/or intellectual challenges; Sliding scale fees based on income; Must be Travis County residents
  • Lifeworks

    services rendered:Community-based peer support counseling, Resolution counseling, Psychiatric Services
    eligibility requirements: Youth under 17 years. Sliding scale fees determined by one's income; Medicaid & private insurance accepted

    services rendered:Psychiatry, mental health evaluation, counseling , mental health care, group therapy
    eligibility requirements:Serves everyone who needs care. Accepts most insurance plans. Also have a sliding fee discount program

    services rendered:Health insurance to be used for counseling and psychiatry, Psychiatric inpatient care, Intensive outpatient services, Crisis residential services, Emergency stabilization/crisis extended observation
    eligibility requirements:Serves low income communities; must live in Travis County, be ineligible for Medicaid or Medicare and do not have private insurance

    eligibility requirements:Must be pregnant, or the single parent/caretaker of a child under 19 years, make $16,971 or less annually for 1 person household & $23,169 for 2, have a disability or family member with a disability, be 65 years or older, be a former foster care child, be a transitioning foster care youth, be a US Citizen, national or permanent Resident and Texas Resident
